Kool-Pool

KOOL-POOL Swimming Pool Cooler
Cool temperature control of the water in your swimming pool with an energy efficient heat exchanger.

The Kool-Pool units are liquid-to-air heat  exchangers for cooling the water in swimming pools. Features low energy consumption, runs in conjunction with existing swimming pool filtering systems, has automatic control, increases  the lifetime of pool water treating chemicals, and allows the  enjoyment of a swimming pool in the hottest of climates.

Key Benefits

  • Energy efficient design
  • All-weather construction
  • Direct installation

Capabilities

Kool-Pool units are liquid-to-air heat exchangers designed to cool the water in swimming pools, ponds, aquaculture ponds, and tanks. An energy efficient Kool-Pool unit consists of a polycoated aluminum finned copper heat exchange coil and an electric fan which blows high velocity air across  the coil to dissipate the heat content of the water flowing  through the cooling coil. The unit operates on electrical  power for the fan motor and the electronic temperature control system. The pool water is circulated through the Kool-Pool unit which is plumbed between the outlet of a pool filter and the pool inlet. The pool water pump is utilized  to pump water through the Kool-Pool unit when the pool water temperature is higher than the temperature set point of the electronic control system. An electrically actuated bypass valve can be included which will bypass the Kool-Pool unit when the pool water temperature is lower than the temperature set  level.
Capability 1
Cool 60,000 gallons of swimming pool water from 91 degrees F to 85 degrees F overnight with 71 degrees F ambient nighttime air temperature at low cost.
Capability 2
Automatic operation in conjunction with the swimming pool filtering pump system with relatively low sound levels.
Capability 3
Longer effective lifetime for pool water chemicals which saves money.

The Kool-Pool air-cooled heat exchanger utilizes single-phase direct drive propeller fan or fans. The heat exchanger coil is constructed with poly coated copper tubing and mechanically bonded coated aluminum fins. The casing is constructed of galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. A pre-wired control box is mounted on the unit with a non-fused lockable disconnect and one electrical contactor for unit control in conjunction with an electronic temperature controller and sensor which are included. The Kool-Pool unit must be freeze protected and includes a manual drain valve.

The service hook-up is to plumb the pool filter output to the bypass valve on the Kool-Pool unit and the return to the pool inlet line previously connected to the pool filter output line. An manual bypass valve is to be included by installer. The electrical hook-up is to wire a power feeder to the Kool-Pool unit control box (knockout provided) which provides fan power, electronic temperature control power, and bypass valve power. Mounting on a cement pad, patio blocks, or bricks is required.

Sound levels are similar to a three-ton home heat pump compressor/condenser unit at 74 to 83 db. Sound source location, proximity to the pool pump/ filter location, and electrical wiring location are important considerations in placement of the Kool-Pool unit. An area with two feet of free space around the unit should be provided. Low overhangs or tree branches should be avoided above the unit. The unit is designed for outdoor environments.
